Degradation of the Grid

Share Tweet Pin
These works take the format of the grid – and yet change it. Cut squares of paper are laid and glued on the canvas.

These squares are then rubbed over with glazes of oil paint.

This technique creates the random patterning within the grids as the paper shifts throughout the process.

The paper almost takes on a life of its own.

The beauty, texture and quality of the paper itself is what remains at the end of the process.
