These works are simplified compositions that explore the relationship of different qualities of paint, different colour combinations and also the effect of expanding the gesture and type of mark that is made.
In this work I painted with both oil and watercolour, I shifted the scale at which I was working – producing much larger compositions and also changed the instruments that I used to produce the marks.
The works still had a similar feel to previous work but the major progression that resulted was an interest in the relationship of marks placed over marks and how this impacted the sense of constructed space within the work.
